Liam Murphy

Research Funding Manager

As Research Funding Manager I am responsible for advice and guidance, policy development, project management and administration of internal research funds, including the John Fell Fund, the Medical Research Council Confidence in Concept (CiC) block grant, the Medical Sciences Internal Fund (MSIF) and the Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (WTISSF).  Monitoring of finances, data analysis and post-award management are also core to this aspect of my work.

The management of regular and ad hoc co-ordinated bids processes, provision of institutional letters of support and liaison with external funding organisations also feature in my duties.  I also participate in the Oxford Research and Innovation Support Network (RISN) as well as co-ordinating events for stakeholders in research funding from within and beyond the University.

My role involves collaboration with the Research Services Office, the Planning and Resource Allocation Section (PRAS), Oxford University Innovation (OUI) and the University's other divisional offices in undertaking these tasks.  I also collaborate with the IT Services Microsoft Dynamics Team from the client side developing online systems for effective management of workflows underpinning internal funding resources.
