The BioEscalator is Oxford University’s new incubator for innovative medical science businesses. We are now inviting applications for space and are expecting that many of the businesses that apply will already have, or want to pursue a link to Oxford’s medical research, whether spin-outs or collaborators.
We are looking for the most promising early-stage biomedical businesses that will benefit from being close to the University’s medical research and hospitals. The BioEscalator will also be a hub for collaborative research between University researchers and industry.
The BioEscalator is a flexible and entrepreneurial space: for proof of concept work, you may want to rent a bench in the Innovation Lab; more established companies may want their own fitted lab. We are also setting up shared core facilities and equipment (chemistry, tissue culture, -80°C and LN2 storage, a cold room and waste/glasswash), which will be maintained by our Lab Manager, and a community space with hot desks and meeting rooms. The community in the BioEscalator will also be key to the success of its businesses: like-minded, collaborative people with support and expertise on hand.
We have just opened an initial round for applications just for start-ups. The building will be handed over to the University in August this year and tenants will be moving in from September.
