Funding  call 2018

EIT Health (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) has opened a call for proposals for collaborative projects. The University of Oxford is a core partner in the EU-funded EIT Health programme, a consortium of businesses, research centres, hospitals and academic institutions that contribute to the competitiveness of European industry, improve the quality of life of Europe’s citizens and the sustainability of the healthcare system.

The programme offers three funding streams that aim to promote healthy living, support active ageing and improve healthcare - Campus, Innovation Projects and Accelerator.

EIT Health Campus, the education programme of EIT Health, provides up-to-date knowledge, skills and attitudes to help train healthcare leaders and entrepreneurs who will shape the future of Europe’s health. Partners are invited to submit innovative education and training proposals in 2019 to strengthen the Campus portfolio.

Innovation Projects are multidisciplinary and contribute to at least one of EIT Health’s key challenges (promoting healthy living, supporting active ageing, improving healthcare). They include areas ranging from lifestyle interventions and nutrition, to brain health and treating chronic diseases, to social care and managing risk of exclusion, to improving healthcare systems. Projects are categorised into one of two streams:

  • Innovation by Ideas: collaborative projects that are solution-driven and bottom-up; these projects are supported with a maximum of €750,000 for no more than 18 months
  • Innovation by Design: collaborative projects that are needs-driven and start from a recognised market need or societal problem to deliver tangible results for citizens; these projects are supported with a maximum of €2,750,000 for no more than 36 months

EIT Health Accelerator is a business creation programme, set up to support health industry entrepreneurs. Prizes awarded under this pillar are typically worth €50,000, and also provide access to a European network of living labs, test beds and investors. EIT Health business advisors assist all EIT Health projects throughout the development process to identify business opportunities, and help link entrepreneurs to public and private funding.
