This MSD Skills training course consists of three half-day sessions a week apart and is suitable for postgraduate research students and early career researchers who have already completed PLTO.
This course takes place over three separate days and participants will be expected to attend all three sessions.

This course enables you to
- Consider how teaching affects students’ learning
- Choose inclusive teaching strategies to design lectures, classes, tutorials or lab practicals
- Describe your teaching philosophy
- Evaluate your teaching using feedback or observation
- Use educational literature to discuss your teaching practices.
- Write a teaching portfolio demonstrating that these aims have been achieved
The Developing Learning and Teaching (DLT) programme introduces you to teaching in Higher Education. You will use educational literature to help you design a teaching session plan, evaluate your teaching and write a 2, 500- 5000 word teaching portfolio. The DLT programme is accredited by the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) and you will receive a SEDA PDF Support Learning Award on successful completion of your DLT portfolio. The award is aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education, at Descriptor 1.
PREREQUISITES: You will need to have completed a Preparing for Learning and Teaching at Oxford course and be teaching registered Oxford University students in the interval after you begin the DLT programme and before you submit your portfolio (up to 3 terms after you start the DLT).Prior to attending this course you will need to complete this application form before we can offer you a place.
The teaching requirements detailed in the application form are to confirm that you can apply the DLT programme to your current teaching at Oxford University and to ensure that you have sufficient teaching experience to meet the assessment criteria required to pass the DLT Portfolio.
