The ‘How to make a success of your post-graduate research studies’ (known previously as ‘How to work with your supervisor’) is an interactive online session suitable for MSD first year DPhil/MSc by research students.

COURSE AIM

This 2 hour interactive online MSD Skills Training course helps students to chart a successful path through their research projects with advice on time management, expectations, integration and development within a new research team/institution and crucially, how to take control of their research. Importantly, this also includes understanding the roles of student and supervisor, and strategies for dealing with common supervisor-related issues, along with available support networks, sources of advice and counsel, and how to think about difficult conversations. This course is built upon experiences from past MSD students.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Learn how to plan a deliverable research project
  • Understand your role in the research team
