Peter Sullivan is Emeritus Professor in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Emeritus Fellow of Magdalen College at Oxford University. He ran a tertiary referral service for paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition in the Oxford region from 1994 to 2019 and he continues as an Honorary Consultant with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

He trained in Manchester, Cambridge and London. Field work as a clinical research fellow was undertaken at the MRC laboratories in The Gambia. As Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong he introduced Paediatric Gastroenterology as a sub-speciality.

Peter Sullivan was the first David Baum Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health with responsibility for the international affairs of the college (2000-2006) and also past-President of the Commonwealth Association of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. He was the first Director of Medical Education at the Oxford University Hospitals Trust (2011-2019).
