Physical Activity Epidemiologist

Miranda joined the Cancer Epidemiology Unit in August of 2008. She holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and has a background in exercise science, computational biology, and computer science. She teaches on the MSc in Medical Anthropology and Human Sciences course, and supervises two DPhil students.
Her research is focused mainly on the Million Women Study cohort, considering the associations between physical activity and various health outcomes in women. She also has external collaborations with researchers based in Africa in which she researches childhood physical fitness, physical activity and nutritional status.
