Today’s Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) results confirm the University of Oxford’s world leading position in medical sciences research.

We ranked top for the overall quality of our submissions in the following three areas: Clinical Medicine; Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care; and also in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience.

Within Biological Sciences, Oxford produced the largest volume of world leading and internationally excellent research in the exercise.  

Professor Alastair Buchan, Head of the Medical Sciences Division commented: “Oxford Medical Sciences continues to be a world leading research centre, as today’s REF 2014 results confirm. I would like to personally thank all our staff for their contributions to this result. We should all be very proud to be associated with this achievement."

Furthermore, the University overall has the largest volume of world leading research and impact submitted to the REF exercise.
