Helen Cox
Deputy Head of Development (maternity cover)
I am currently Deputy Head of Development (maternity cover). My focus during this time is leading the strategy for Oxford Cancer.
In my role as Senior Development Executive, I have a broad remit across a number of departments with a focus on Prostate Cancer, Global Health and the Pandemic Sciences, Immunology and Motor Neuron Disease research. I have a particular interest in the role of philanthropy in supporting innovation, and developing disruptive solutions to medical challenges.
I joined the Medical Sciences Development Office in 2018. My background is in the third sector, with a focus on international development. Previously, I have worked in senior fundraising roles at WaterAid, Cecily’s Fund and Practical Action, where philanthropy improved lives, supported the development of sustainable livelihoods and brought about systems change in lower income countries. This work took me, and often donors, to Zambia’s Copperbelt, Tanzania, Madagascar and rural Nepal.
