Adam M Hill MD PhD is a dual-qualified Clinician and Mechanical Engineer, with a career built at the interface of Industry, Academia and Health systems. Over the last 2 decades, he has trained in Surgery in the British Army; founded a successful applied research centre at Imperial College London; provided growth strategy and investment advice to global life science companies on behalf of the British Government; led the global medical function of a multinational, publicly-listed Health IT brand; pivoted an automotive company into servicing the regulated health technology sector; and, most recently, led a public listed diagnostics company through a tricky turnaround, including the transition of the founding team. Additionally, over the last 8 years, Adam has been an early stage investor in, and advisor to a small number of health technology start-ups.
Today, Adam spends the majority of his team as CEO of Oncimmune Plc, a listed medical diagnostics company. Previously, Adam was Chief Strategy Officer and an Executive Director of McLaren Applied Technologies, focused on applying the company’s deep technical expertise to developing high growth businesses, including a Health Technology programme. In founding McLaren’s Health business as a start-up incubated within the company, Adam developed a Digital Therapeutics strategy and grew a team of approximately 30 experienced professionals across Commercial, Product, Programme, Quality and Technical disciplines to deliver against it. This business unit remained profitable from inception by building a multi-million-pound annual order book over the last 3 years in the regulated IoT segment, originating and developing a number of technical and Go-to-Market strategic partnerships with MNC’s, and raised capital in excess of £20 million in order to increase high margin, recurring revenue within the portfolio.
Over the last 5 years, Adam has keynoted International conferences, provided thought-leadership through Ministerial Summits, including the UN General Assembly, and regularly contributes to digital and print content through diverse channels such as the FT, BBC, Business Insider, The Saturday Times Magazine, The Daily Mail, GQ, The Telegraph, Men’s Health (US) and Men’s Fitness. In addition, Adam has built a portfolio of over 100 academic peer-reviewed and policy publications.
Adam graduated from Imperial College London as a Medical Doctor, whilst also earning a PhD in Engineering, attending Imperial College Business School, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Currently, he is both a visiting Professor in Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London, and sits on the Advisory Board of Imperial College Health Partners.
