In 2016 a staff experience survey was conducted across the University. The survey served as one avenue for us to gather information on the experiences of staff at the University to inform our institutional application for the Race Equality Charter Mark. Last term the results were communicated to various groups within the University. We would like to supplement this information with discussions from Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) Staff . Through this process we want to make sure that we are working together with BME Staff to advance race quality via the Race Equality Charter. We have already held a successful focus group with BME administrative staff, and would now like to speak to academic and research staff.

We are inviting you to participate in a focus group on the experiences of Black and Minority Ethnic academic and research staff within the University on Friday, 10 February , 1-2pm (venue in Headington to be confirmed) OR Wednesday, 15 February,1-2pm  in the Equality and Diversity Unit’s meeting room. We are holding one discussion in Headington for staff in that proximity, and the other in the city centre.   Any research or academic staff member who identifies as BME is welcome, including those who are not UK nationals.

The discussion will be facilitated by the Equality and Diversity Unit’s Race Equality Advisor, Dr Machilu Zimba. If you can participate in any one of these group discussions please RSVP to by Friday, 3 February.
