The RSL invited the student led charity Oxford Marrow to set up a stand in our Entrance Hall on 25 October. They work with Anthony Nolan (www.anthonynolan.org/ ) to encourage students to sign up to the Bone Marrow Register. Anthony Nolan match individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people with blood cancer and blood disorders who need lifesaving transplants.
The Oxford Marrow volunteers brought lots of freebies, application forms, and plastic packs for people to provide a spit sample. A number of people signed up on the day and more chatted with the volunteers to find out more. It certainly helped to raise the profile of Anthony Nolan and the life-saving work they support.
