We are pleased to announce the following senior appointments:

Professor Ester Hammond (Director, Oxford–MRC Doctoral Training Partnership, wef 1 September 2019)

This is an appointment for three years in the first instance, with responsibilities for leading the delivery of the DTP and leading on the University’s preparations for future bids for MRC DTP funding. Professor Hammond is Professor of Molecular Cancer Biology and Senior Group Leader at the Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology.

Professor Kevin Talbot (Head of Department, NDCN, wef. 1 August 2019)

Professor Talbot takes over from Professor Irene Tracey as Head of Department, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences. Professor Tracy is taking up a new role as Warden of Merton College. Read more.

Dr Anjan Thakurta (Visiting Professor of Cancer, Biology and Translational Science, RDM)

Dr Thakurta will provide strategic support and advice to the Medical Sciences Division and foster new collaborations between the University of Oxford and Celgene. He will also facilitate greater access to and opportunities with senior Celgene scientists for University of Oxford researchers, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the scope and potential of Celgene’s portfolio of work and an industry perspective on research questions. Whilst in Oxford, Dr Thakurta will be based in the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (MRC WIMM). Read more.

Professor John Todd FRS (Director, Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, NDM, wef. 15 August 2019)

Professor Todd will be taking forward the broader strategic plans for the centre as well as the leading its day to day activities and focusing on staff development. Read more.
