There is a currently small but rapidly increasing need for research departments in Medical Sciences to demonstrate a good level of information security through a relevant certification such as the NCSC-backed Cyber Essentials scheme or compliance with the US NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF).

MSD IT and the Central InfoSec team are pleased to report an early success in the Department of Experimental Psychology where a project has achieved Cyber Essentials certification, as required by its sponsor, with the help of a collaborative effort between staff in the information security Governance Risk and Compliance team and MSD IT Services.

Several other research departments are also currently being supported by the GRC team to achieve compliance and certification and MSD IT and GRC are working together to build a repeatable and scalable process to support more departments on their journey in future.
