John Fell Fund

This is a University of Oxford fund intended to foster creativity and a proactive approach to research opportunities in all subject areas, and particularly interdisciplinary fields. It will make seed corn and start-up grants, and provide funds to stimulate applications to external funding bodies. Application deadline: Wednesday 24 April 2019, 12:00 noon.


Medical Research Council Proximity to Discover: Industry Engagement Fund

The Medical Sciences Division has been awarded £237,000 from the Medical Research Council Proximity to Discovery (P2D) Fund, up from £150,000 in the last round. This block grant aims to support activities that build relationships between the university and industry partners, and promote a culture of innovation. It also aims to promote interaction that may lead to MRC CiC applications. We would actively encourage applications for innovative and ambitious projects from teams across the Division. All activities must take place before 31 August 2020.


Medical Sciences Internal Fund: Bridging salary

The Medical Sciences Internal Fund Bridging Salary Scheme provides short-term awards to cover the salary costs of research staff at postdoctoral and early career researcher levels, who are currently funded on external research grants, while they seek long-term support, also from external sources. Applications for this scheme can be submitted at any timevia IRAMS.


Medical Sciences Internal Fund: Clinical Pre-fellowship Scheme 

The clinical pre-fellowship scheme accepts applications for short-term (up to 3 months) funding to cover the salary costs of clinicians who will shortly begin an externally funded research training fellowship at Oxford.


Medical Sciences Internal Fund: Family Leave

The Medical Sciences Internal Fund can be used for bridging salary support to cover the costs associated with research staff who take maternity/shared parental/adoption leave whilst employed on an externally funded research grant. Applications for this scheme can be submitted at any time via IRAMS.  Application outcomes are expected to be returned within six weeks of submission.


Medical Sciences Internal Fund: Pump Priming Scheme 

The Medical Sciences Internal Fund Pump Priming Scheme accepts applications for small awards (up to £10K) to enable investigators to obtain pilot data to support larger scale applications for external research funding in the future. Application deadline: Friday 1 May 2019, 12:00 noon.


Oxford-Celgene Fellowship

Oxford-Elysium Prize Fellowship in Cellular Health

Returning Carers' Fund

A Returning Carers' Fund has been established as part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Diversity Fund for the advancement of diversity among academic and research staff at Oxford. Application deadline: Friday 31 May 2019


Wellcome Institutional Strategic Support Fund

The Oxford-Wellcome Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) will support strategically important activity across the University of Oxford in biomedical and clinical sciences, public health, social sciences and the medical humanities.
