The changes to the timing of the FHS / FHS Part II courses (Pre-clinical Medicine and Biomedical Sciences) will take effect from next term (Trinity Term 2017). These changes originated from the review of the standard medical course which took place in 2014-15, after which the review panel invited the FHS Committee to consider ways in which the FHS research project could be extended.

A small amount of theme-based lecture and seminar teaching has been introduced into Trinity Term of Year 2. Although the large majority of Trinity Term will be free for students to work on their research projects, this will address the problem of some students carrying out the majority of their project work before they have received any Advanced Option teaching. Students will also have the opportunity to spread their projects over a longer period of part-time work where this is appropriate. It is also expected that this new arrangement will relieve the current congestion in the course at the end of Hilary Term of Year 3. Any questions should be sent to or
