We are excited to launch the first STEM network within the University, for research staff, academic staff, and postgraduates that identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) or BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic). We aim to:

  • Create an inclusive social support group
  • Highlight the contributions of People of Colour in STEM within the University of Oxford and beyond
  • Provide a platform for professional networking and career development
  • Nurture a welcoming environment to raise awareness of racial issues and shared experiences

While the University benefits from networks for Women and LGBTQ+ in STEM, we recognised the need for a similar network for People of Colour within academia too. People of Colour often suffer from a lack of representation and focused support within individual departments, which is why we want to bring together individuals across STEM fields to join the collective and build a thriving network.

Launch event & virtual mixer - Monday 26th October, 5pm

We would like to invite everyone interested in finding out about the network, becoming a member or supporting us as an ally to attend our virtual Launch Event, where we will be introducing ourselves and our aims so far, hearing from similar groups spread across STEM departments, and most importantly, getting to know each other informally. We really look forward to seeing you there and we look forward to welcoming you into the network! Please register for the FREE event via Eventbrite to receive the Zoom link.

Sign up to become a member

While as a network we will be hosting events and workshops open to all, we encourage you to sign up to become a member of the network if you are working within a field of STEM and self-identify as BIPOC or BAME. Please fill out this short form, and you will be added to the members’ mailing list, where you can get involved with the network and keep with the network’s ongoings.

Subscribe to our allies mailing list

We would like to engage with allies of the network and collaborate with other similar initiatives to collate resources, run events and projects. Please consider subscribing by sending a blank email to the embedded email address to get updates and get involved.
