Our typical offer is A*AA at A-level, achieved in the same academic year. Quality rather than quantity is what tutors will be looking for.

Although admitting tutors will select applicants of high academic ability and potential, there are other factors which come into play during short-listing and selection (see the selection criteria for Medicine). We also recognise that some students are restricted by school policies to the number of subjects they can follow.

Applicants are of course welcome to study for additional A-levels, if they wish to do so out of personal preference, and if this would not compromise their performance in other key academic areas.

Whether three or four A-levels are taken, tutors will never specify the third A-level to be included in the offer – beyond the exclusion of Critical Thinking and General Studies – as long as our requirement for having Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Maths, or Physics as part of the offer has been met.
