REF Panel A (Medical Sciences) Unit of Assessment Leads 

We are seeking to appoint senior research-active academic staff to the roles of Unit of Assessment (UOA) Leads to prepare for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2028. These crucial roles are key to the University’s ability to showcase our research quality and offer postholders valuable opportunities for leadership and career development. The roles would be taken on alongside primary responsibilities and come with a dedicated administrative support and a responsibility allowance.

Medical Sciences Division Board Vacancy

A vacancy is open for an externally funded researcher to join the Medical Sciences Division Board. This position is open to all externally funded researchers regardless of grade. However, if you are not currently a member of Congregation you will need to complete that process before submitting your nomination. Any academic or research staff member is eligible to join Congregation. Complete this online form to join Congregation (SSO required) and your Head of Department or equivalent will need to approve your application.

Nominations for the board position must be received in the elections office no later than 4pm on Thursday 26 October.

In order to stand, you will need the support of between 4-10 of your academic or research colleagues, who are also members of congregation.

Medical Sciences Division Advocate for Research Staff

We are seeking to appoint a Divisional Advocate for Research Staff, to succeed Prof John Frater (NDM) who is stepping down after 3+ successful years as MSD’s first Advocate.

This is an opportunity for a senior academic staff member to play a collaborative leadership role, to promote and realise the University’s vision to provide a world-leading environment for research staff. The Divisional Advocate has a pivotal role in advancing career development for researchers and supporting positive changes in research culture. The role would be taken on alongside primary responsibilities and has administrative support.
