***THIS COURSE IS NOW FULLY BOOKED***This interactive online session provided by ITLC is for Medical Sciences postgraduate research students and early career researchers wanting to learn about good presentation design.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This workshop builds upon the basic skills that you have in using PowerPoint (or other preferred presentation tool), to help you create effective presentations. The emphasis is on good presentation design rather than the use of the software, and you will have an opportunity to try out some of the techniques covered.

Please make sure you read all of the sections below relating to how this course will work.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Use techniques to help plan a presentation
  • Design slides that avoid bullet points and engage with an audience
  • Source suitable creative commons images for your presentations
  • Use audio and video within your presentations

HOW IT WILL WORK

This  teacher-led session is 2 hours long including breaks. The teacher will give participants one-to-one support - just as in the classroom. Participants use their own computer and can take part in the course anywhere. The teacher guides the participant through the material, encouraging participation and interaction. The course will start promptly at the time advertised.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

You will need to provide your own computer with a browser and the Teams desktop app installed. You will need a webcam and microphone with speakers or headset. You need to be online with a reliable internet connection, however, no specific software is required to participate. If, after the course, you want to explore the ideas discussed, you will need to install PowerPoint or similar presentation tool.
