Yutong Samuel Cai

Senior Epidemiologist

Samuel is an environmental epidemiologist. His research interests include health effects of multiple urban environmental stressors and their potential modifiers, climate change, exposure assessment, respiratory and cardiovascular epidemiology, and harnessing data science to better inform environmental health policy-making. He is a researcher of the PEAK-Urban programme and co-leading Informal Cities Health Programme, with Prof Kazem Rahimi, at Oxford Martin School. 

Samuel read preventive medicine (B.Med), with postgraduate training in epidemiology (MSc with distinction) and environmental epidemiology (PhD) at Imperial College London. Prior to joining Oxford, he was a MRC research fellow at Imperial's MRC Centre for Environment and Health. During the fellowship, he set up a panel study in Beijing to investigate personal exposure to air pollution and COPD exacerbation patterns. 

Samuel is a committee member of the UK/Ireland Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Society (OEES).
