This project delivered a survey about Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms to a large number of patients throughout Oxfordshire and beyond.

WHAT WAS THE PROJECT?

OxAAA.png

Researchers in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences established a study (the OxAAA Survey) to encourage input from patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), and their healthcare professionals about relevant research. This project saw the survey delivered to a wider audience through distribution in vascular studies units throughout Oxfordshire, and online amongst international vascular surgery societies.

How did the seed fund support the project?

The Public Engagement with Research Seed Fund supported the administrative costs for developing the second phase of the OxAAA survey, which brought it to a wider audience.

What were the benefits of the project?

The OxAAA survey helped to ascertain the patients’ experience of the clinical care pathway, and what they think is important for AAA research. This will help define future research questions, and form the basis of future PPI grant applications.
