TRO celebrates unprecedented number of MLSTF applications
The Medical and Life Sciences Translation Fund (MLSTF), which supports proof-of-concept projects at the earliest stages of translation, has seen an unprecedented response to the 2020 Call for Proposals.
A total of 65 applications were received for review, from more than 20 different departments across Medical Sciences Division and Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division (MPLS) – an increase of 75% from the previous year. A total of 17 projects received funding, representing a £1.37M investment into Oxford’s early translational research programmes. The MLSTF Committee, chaired by Professor Matthew Wood and included several external members, was delighted with the high quality and wide range of applications received.
We are pleased to announce two co-funded projects with Oxford University Innovation’s University Seed Challenge Fund. Dr Antoniya Georgieva (Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health) and Dr Huiling Tan (MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit) received funding from both funding streams to accelerate their projects towards commercial impact. One project was co-funded with Novo Nordisk Innovation Fund and awarded to Prof Ellie Tzima.
