Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences (NDS) was involved in the 30th World's Biggest Coffee Morning and held a virtual Bake Off. Odette Dawkins (Departmental and Course Coordinator) was the winner and Claire Thomson (Research Coordinator and CTIMP Trials Development Lead) came runner up. They raised £105.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support, which included a fantastic donation from Stephanie Jones (Oxford Radcliffe Biobank Collections Governance Manager) and her generous neighbours. Stephanie got baking and made 24 yummy coffee cupcakes and 24 scrummy mini cupcakes for her street and raised a total of £50, with one neighbour kindly donating £15. Caketastic!

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic back in April, researchers from the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre took part in the 2.6 challenge. The 2.6 Challenge was a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UK’s charities who have been seriously affected by the lack of fundraising and events being held for their charities. It was promoted locally and across the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics and they raised a total of £1,197 for Parkinson’s UK.
