OXION: Ion Channels & Disease Initiative

Please note: The deadline has passed for applications for entry to this programme in October 2012.

Director: Dr Stephen Tucker

OXION is a consortium of scientists based at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London. We offer a training and research programme that embraces all aspects of ion channel research including protein structure, genetics, cell physiology, systems and organism physiology, animal behaviour, and human and animal disease. The first year is devoted to taught courses and mini-projects in different laboratories, thus introducing the student to a wide range of techniques. This is followed by a Three-Year research project involving two OXION groups. Successful candidates will primarily be based in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (DPAG), University of Oxford.
